YEAR 8 HOCKEY TEAM TRIUMPH IN HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY CUP <<more>>
We aim to promote physical skillfulness, physical development and knowledge of the body in action. Physical Education provides opportunities for students to be creative, competitive and to face up to different challenges as individuals and in groups and teams.
As a department we have high expectations of the students in terms of their attitude towards participation, their organisation and their commitment to improve and achieve.
At Hockerill we aim to provide students with a broad and balanced curriculum consisting of:
As students progress into KS4 they also experience activities such as Boxercise, Tag Rugby, Officiating and Coaching Roles. Through this range of quality activities, students discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences and make choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity.
11 students, 4 members of staff and a parent from Hockerill went to the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday 19th January to watch England vs. New Zealand at Netball. The VIP tickets were very kindly donated to Hockerill by Rory Barker (Father of one of Hockerill’s student’s) and this enabled us to be in a private suite with an amazing view and hospitality service.

Everyone who attended had a good time and it was a great experience particularly for all the girls who represent Hockerill at Netball. They were able to see how the professionals play and to walk away with more knowledge and understanding which will hopefully be transferred into their own game play!

Thank you to all the staff who attended the trip and to the students who represented the College brilliantly.
We would all like to say a massive thank you to Rory Barker for his very generous donation of tickets and for the opportunity to gain such a valuable experience.

This event took place on Friday 20th January and was hosted by Hockerill on the AWP. 10 Primary Schools from around Bishops Stortford took part in the Year 5 and 6 sports festival which was run by the Birchwood School Sports Partnership and 15 sports leaders from Hockerill and Leventhorpe.
The 12 leaders from Hockerill were brilliant. They represented the College as great ambassadors and have shown and proved themselves to be the type of sports leaders that London 2012 will be looking for! The leaders were:
Alex Banjac; Florence Chamberlain; Annie Peacock; Olivia Pettengell and Fiona Shields from Year 10.
Marie Beaufils; Seb Drew; Ewan McNaughton; Alice Nelson; Oli Palierakis; Lily Pryer and Marli Todd from Year 11.

The leaders worked so hard to ensure that the festival ran smoothly and this was evident through the enjoyment that was visible from the children taking part and all the spectators. I would just like to thank them all for their commitment and hard work and I look forward to working with them all again in the future.
