SSCo EVENTS

Hockerill Primary Cross Country Cluster Festival

The Cross Country event took place on Thursday 14th October at Hockerill Anglo-European College.  14 sports leaders from Year 10 and 11 were present to help ensure the event ran smoothly and to gain experience in the organisation and delivery of sporting festivals.

Albury were represented by 4 pupils from Year 1 and 5 pupils from Year 2; Hillmead entered 6 Year 2 pupils and 8 pupils from Year 3; and Spellbrook were represented by a great number of pupils - 15 pupils from Year 2 and 14 pupils from Year 3.  It was a great turn out for the first Hockerill KS1 cluster festival and all the children were keen to run despite the weather’s poor attempt to rain!

The sports leaders were brilliant and represented Hockerill outstandingly ensuring they fulfilled all their roles within the organisation of the event and further constantly maintaining happy, productive relationships with the children during the warm ups and the races.

Year 1 and 2 ran the first course which was approximately 0.7 miles while the Year 3 course was slightly longer in distance; approximately 0.9 miles.

It was a superb effort with all the pupils finishing the race whether it was pure determination or with the encouragement and enthusiasm from the sports leaders; the hares of the race and the marshals situated around the course!

All the Primary schools in the cluster were brilliant and as the SSCo I am so proud of all those pupils who ran the cross country course; of the PLT’s and other support teachers for their great support prior to the event and on the day and additionally to my 14 sports leaders who without their dedication and team effort, none of this would have been possible.  They have shown to be great ambassadors to the College and I would just like to say a personal thank you to them all:
