Fundraising

Japan Disaster Appeal

Mr Gdula has launched a "Japan Disaster Appeal" to fundraise for the people in Sendai. It is essential to get the funds raised out to Japan as quickly as possible. The focus of the fundraising is to rebuild local Kindergartens and schools so that parents are able to return to work as soon as possible. Donations can be made either by clicking on the "Donate" button below or by sending cheques to Hockerill, made payable to HAEC with "Japan Disaster Appeal" written on the back of the cheques. For direct bank transfers, please call the College. Please click below to read the letter from Mr Gdula below which gives further details of the appeal which is extremely close to his heart.

Hockerill Development Fund

Hockerill Anglo-European College is proud to have incredibly supportive parents and friends. A major way you have helped us in recent years is through your generosity in supporting our Development Fund.

Over the last 6 years the Development Fund alone has raised £150,000 for capital projects to directly benefit the students at Hockerill. As a successful state school it is incredibly hard for us to access grants to develop our site. Your kindness and support means that our students are not disadvantaged by this.

If you are interested in contributing to the fund we would be delighted to hear from you. You can either downloard the form below or contact Claire Waring on 01279 658451 to discuss how you might like to contribute.

Hockerill Merchandise

merchandise

We now have some official Hockerill merchandise for sale in the College. There is currently a teddy with a Hockerill T Shirt and a Hockerill Mug. Both of these items would make great exchange gifts or could be bought as a momento of the college.

The merchandise is available from the uniform shop and also at reception at the following prices.

Teddy £6.00 Mug £4.00

LATEST PROJECT

Library Project

We are delighted with our new look library, which was made possible by using Development Fund income. The library plays an important part in supporting the learning at Hockerill.
Since the investment, Julie Ballard, the College Librarian, has seen the number of student visitors grow: “The library is suddenly a really popular place to study, with demand sometimes exceeding supply of seats. It is amazing how making the environment a more attractive place to work has encouraged more serious study in the area”…”
We are now in the process of replacing much of the old book stock and also investing in developing a web based ordering system for parents. The leather seating to complement the new look has been ordered and will be in place by September.

FUTURE PROJECTS

Where next? There are two projects which the College is keen to progress.

Fitness Studio

The first is the development of a fitness studio between the Refectory and Millennium building. This would support and enhance the College’s sports programme during the day and at evenings and weekends. The total cost of this
development is £30K, a large part of which would be for specialist equipment.
With your support we are hoping to open this exciting new facility early in 2011.

Performing Arts

We are looking to develop our performing arts facilities by reconfiguring St Alban’s Hall to create a main auditorium with retractable tiered seating. This is a longer term project for which we are currently investigating costs. We would hope to be able to access some grant/charitable trust funding but, as we have found with previous developments, this would only cover part of the cost so we would need to raise a contribution ourselves. Initial estimates suggest a “war chest” of £90,000 would be needed from the Development Fund.

Chapel Restoration

The Development Office will continue to apply for grants to support the restoration of the Chapel and will soon be launching a scheme to sponsor a pipe.
